World's Largest Coffee Portrait Unveiled in Moscow

Russian artist and sculptor Arkady Kim, along with five assistants, has unveiled the world's largest coffee bean mosaic that used up to a million coffee beans, at the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure in Moscow, Russia, on June 26, 2012. Titled ‘Awakening’, the artwork measured about 30 square meters and weighed 397 pounds, surpassing the previous record set by Albanian artist Saimir Strati by 88 pounds. After roasting coffee beans to get different shades, they then glued them one-by-one to a giant panel. The mosaic reportedly took a little over ten days to complete.

According to participants and event organizers, the artwork has been considered the biggest picture in history made of coffee beans.
